The City Council acknowledges GaituzSport’s work in fostering community health

 

Bilbao City Council has acknowledged GaituzSport for their work in fostering a healthier, more inclusive and respect towards diversity through Physical Activity and Sport on World Health Day.

The associations Aldarte and Arnasa Bizkaia were also acknowledged likewise the psychiatrist Enrique Saracho.

The event took place in the Arab Hall of the City Hall in the presence of Bilbao Mayor, Juan Mari Aburto and Councillor for Health & Consumption Álvaro Pérez, who handed the award, which was in the shape of a Bilbao paving stone, to Xabier Leizea, Chairman of GaituzSport in recognition of our work.

This year WHO has called on governments and bodies under the slogan “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures” to ensure their citizens can live in a favourable environment for their physical and mental wellbeing, which Bilbao City Council has responded to.

GaituzSport Foundation is aligned with the WHO slogan, developing programmes and innovative strategies for the disABLED and/or with health problems to practise physical/sports activities in equal conditions and community contexts, thereby improving their health, socialisation and quality of life.

Many thanks to the Council of Bilbao, Mayor, Health Area Councillor and their entire team for their commitment to Community Health, likewise this acknowledgement, which encourages us to continue working to improve EVERYBODY’s health via physical activity and sport.
