- Funds were raised through registrations for the 17th edition of Kosta Trail, a sporting event for charity, held last June in Uribe Kosta.
- GaituzSport Fundazioa Foundation will use this sum to encourage the inclusive practice Physical Activity and Sport for the disABLED.
We couldn’t have started the year better, with the Kosta Trail sponsors: Forum Sport, Salomon and Laboral Kutxa handing over the €13,300 obtained from 17th Kosta Trail registrations to GaituzSport Fundazioa Foundation. An amount which will enable us to undertake inclusive health programmes via physical activity aimed at the disABLED and/or those with health disorders, to exercise in equal conditions, improving their health, quality of life not to mention favouring their social inclusion.
The awarding ceremony was at Forum Sport Moyúa store in Bilbao, and attended by Xabier Leizea and Marta Fernández Rivers, GaituzSport Chairman and Communications & Marketing Director respectively, who received the cheque from Jesus Beamonte, Forum Sport Communications & Advertising Director; Álvaro Parro, Laboral Kutxa territorial communications technician and Izaskun Casas, from Forum Sport marketing department.
GaituzSport, Kosta Trail organization and their sponsors (Forum Sport, Salomon and Laboral Kutxa) used the occasion to express their appreciation of the collaborators’ work, particularly each of the participants, the tide of solidarity which took part in the hikes and race not to mention the fantastic volunteers, without whom this event would have been impossible.
Beamonte mentioned: “There have been 4 editions with GaituzSport as beneficiary of the donation. Moreover, their philosophy and values perfectly complement Kosta Trail and Forum Sport. This event is growing from one edition to another, also in areas like sustainability. The effort to reduce the use of plastics in the event has come to fruition thanks to the awareness of each and every one of the participants, without which it wouldn’t have been possible.”
On behalf of the beneficiary, Leizea pointed out that “GaituzSport believes that in a fairer, more equal and inclusive society for everyone, regardless of their conditions with donations of these characteristics like the Kosta Trail one, enable us to continue working so sport continues to be an inclusion format.”

Kosta Trail
Kosta Trail has been a charity-sporting event since its beginnings with 3 different modalities designed for everybody: mountain half-marathon (21km), mountain hike (20km) and family hike (7km). It’s a pioneering event with a 17 year history, besides being the first race at sea level criss-crossing the Uribe Kosta (Bizkaia) cliffs and trails with earth, sand and asphalt surfaces.
