The 8th edition of “The Inclusive Night – GaituzSport Awards” will take place at Europa Palace in Vitoria-Gasteiz on 19th September

 

  • The GaituzSport Awards acknowledge the exemplary work of people and bodies to achieve a healthier fairer and more inclusive society via physical exercise and sport.
  • The 13 Basque Paralympians taking part in Paris 2024; Baskonia Foundation; Alavesa Football Federation; Itxaropena Association; Zuzenak Foundation and artist Rakel Rodríguez, (Arymux) will receive the GaituzSport Awards 2024. The special GaituzSport award for their career will be trainer and ex-Paralympian Iñaki Ibarreta.
  • 200 notable people from all walks of life will be attending this great inclusion night which you can also follow live via streaming.
  • GaituzSport wants to give sport value as “a social inclusion tool which helps tear down the barriers and stereotypes associated with disABILITY.
  • The ceremony presenters will be actors Óscar Terol and Susana Soleto.

 

The Europa Congress Palace Hall of Vitoria – Gasteiz, bearing the name of sports woman Almudena Cid, will be the perfect venue for the 8th edition of “The Inclusive Night” where the GaituzSport Awards for inclusion via sport will be given on 19th September at 7:30pm.

The encounter has been organised by the Foundation GaituzSport Fundazioa, in conjunction with the Basque Government, Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, Araba Provincial Council, Laboral Kutxa and Forum Sport.

The aim is the most inclusive night is to foster social inclusion acknowledging and making visible the exemplary work of people and bodies via Physical Activity and Sport to achieve a healthier, fairer and more inclusive society.

THE PEOPLE AND BODIES RECEIVING THE GAITUZSPORT AWARDS 2024 are:

  1. – GAITUZSPORT AWARD FOR GOOD INCLUSIVE NON-COMPETITION SPORTS

ALAVESA INCLUSIVE FOOTBALL FEDERATION for their Include Us Project – Gurekin Bat.

  1. – GAITUZSPORT AWARD FOR GOOD INCLUSIVE PRACTICES IN COMPETITION SPORT

ITXAROPENA ASSOCIATION, for the Inclusive Goalball School.

ZUZENAK FOUNDATION, for the inclusive Sports Campus.

 3– ELITE SPORTS COMPETITION AWARD

BASQUE PARALYMPIANS who took part in Paris 2024:

 Agurtzane Egiluz (wheelchair basketball), Iñigo Llopis (swimming), Nahia Zudaire (swimming), Mikel Erdozain (swimming), Laura Ugarte (wheelchair basketball), Naiara Rodríguez (wheelchair basketball), Asier García (wheelchair basketball), (Amagoia Arrieta (boccia), Fernando Mitxelena (Olympic shooting), Higinio Rivero (canoeing), Ander Cepas (table tennis), Iker Sastre (table tennis), and Rakel Mateo (triathlon).

 4– GAITUZSPORT AWARD FOR PEOPLE OR BODIES FOSTERING INCLUSION IN SPORTS

BASKONIA FOUNDATION for their Inclusion Project BASKONIA MIXED ABILITY which integrates both the able bodied and disABLED in the same basketball team. “Basketball from the heart for each and every one”.

 5– GAITUZSPORT AWARD FOR GOOD INCLUSIVE PRACTICES OUTSIDE SPORTS

 RAKEL RODRÍGUEZ a multidiscipline artist and director of the accessible inclusive company Arymux for her great work for accessibility and inclusion via culture and dance.

She’s a pioneer in the artistic field in Sign Language Interpretation and the creator of Signodanza, which has become her personal hallmark.

  1. –   SPECIAL GAITUZSPORT AWARD FOR A CAREER

IÑAKI IBARRETA, trainer and exParalympian wheelchair basketball player for his enormous contribution to sport and competition.

  For an inclusive society

GaituzSport a non-profit body and benchmark facilitating agent in inclusion via physical activity and sport, highlights that “sport is a great inclusion tool which helps break down social barriers and stereotypes associated with disability. We have to get the disABLED to take part as citizens with full rights in general activities. In many ways we live in an advanced society; however, real inclusion and respect for diversity are subjects we have yet to fulfil”.

200 notable people from all walks of life will be attending this great inclusion night, notable institutional presence and support.

Actors Óscar Terol and Susana Soleto will be presenting this great event, which you can follow live via streaming and social networks with the hashtag #gauinklusioboa. Furthermore, this year it’s going to be more interactive than ever with a surprise included.

The Inclusive Night rotates and each year is held in one of the Basque capitals.

GaituzSport was born in 2014 as a Social Innovation Project of the Basque Adapted Sports Federation, to respond to the reflections that emerged from the Euskadi Adapted Sports Plan 2015-2020.
