GaituzSport provides Inclusion Training for Physical/Sports Activities to a group of students from Centro FP Barakaldo

Training is part of GaituzSport DNA and a transversal hub of our strategy. As inclusion experts and reference facilitating agents at GaituzSport via physical activity and sport, we run training programmes aimed at professionals and students on inclusion in the sports field.

Our colleagues Elena Alonso, Technical Area Manager and Iratxe Antoñana, GaituzSport Technical Area Co-ordinator imparted specialised training to 23 second year students taking the Diploma of Higher Education in Social and Sports Teaching and Animation at Centro FP Barakaldo, as part of the Physical/Sports Activities for social inclusion Module on 5th February.

The session comprising theory and practice was held at the Gorostiza Sports Centre in Barakaldo.

In the theory section, Elena gave a presentation on the work we do at GaituzSport together with an introduction to inclusion explaining the differences between adapted and inclusive sport, highlighting the importance of applying the inclusive perspective.

In the practical section, Elena and Iratxe carried out group dynamics on inclusive physical activity with awareness, including inclusive Games using different resources, i.e. wheelchairs, masks, crutches, training spikes, and balls, etc. The students actively engaged experimenting firsthand how the disABLED feel likewise the barriers they encounter on a day-to-day basis.

The aim of this training is for the students to acquire knowledge to incorporate the inclusion perspective in their work as future sports technicians. We should like to thank the Centro FP Barakaldo students for both their participation and involvement making it a highly satisfactory training session.

Continuing to weave the inclusion network via Physical Activity and Sports!
