Kosta Trail hands 12,700 Euros to GaituzSport to support inclusive sport

  • The funds obtained were thanks to the registrations for the 16th edition of Kosta Trail, the solidarity sporting event held in June on the Uribe Kosta cliffs.
  • The Foundation GaituzSport Fundazioa will use this sum to foster inclusive Physical Activity and Sports among the disABLED and/or those with health problems.

Solidarity continues to be Kosta Trail’s undeniable hallmark. The 16th edition of this sporting event in June was yet again an example of this. Thanks to event registrations, 12,700 Euros were collected and Kosta Trail sponsors: Forum Sport, Salomon and Laboral Kutxa handed this sum over to the Foundation GaituzSport Fundazioa, which will be used for inclusive health programmes involving physical activity aimed at the disABLED and/or those with health problems, so they can practise in equal conditions, thereby improving their health, quality of life and fostering their social inclusion.

This ceremony took place at the Moyua Forum Sport store in Bilbao. Xabier Leizea and Marta Fernández, GaituzSport general co-ordinator and communication director respectively collected the cheque from Jesus Beamonte, Forum Sport Communication & Advertising director, Jose Ramón Taranco, Laboral Kutxa territorial sponsor head and Cristina Rodriguez, Eroski sustainability director.

Beamonte emphasised: “It’s a pleasure to make this donation to GaituzSport Foundation as they’re an example of diversity and inclusion, which are values we share. Furthermore, we’re proud to announce that since the event started back in 2006 to date, Kosta Trail has donated over 170,000 Euros to different associations and collectives thanks to the people who take part in each edition.”

In addition, Leizea pointed out that: “this donation for GaituzSport meant a boost to continue working with sport as an inclusion channel, as it enables the creation of a fairer and more equal society for everyone”.

Moreover, the event involved recognition of everyone who took part demonstrating once again their unstoppable commitment to inclusive sport and its environment. We at GaituzSport would like to express our most sincere thanks to the Kosta Trail organisation in particular to Jesús Beamonte and Izaskun Casas of Forum Sport, sponsors and collaborators, likewise the flood of solidarity from participants; not to mention the volunteers without whose assistance Kosta Trail would be impossible.
